Welcome Home Joe! The Lakewood City Schools Board of Education has named Dr. P. Joseph Madak to be its new superintendent effective Aug. 1, bringing back the educator who earned State Superintendent of the Year honors in his first tenure as leader of the 6,000-student district.
School Board Member Matthew John Markling said, "When Dr. Madak announced that he wanted to come home to the Lakewood City Schools, the Board of Education could not have been more delighted. Dr. Madak established the blueprint for our current successes, and we are proud and honored to have him serve as the architect for our future successes as well. With Dr. Madak back at the helm, no challenge is insurmountable. I could not be happier to welcome Dr. Madak back home."
The Lakewood Sun Post Agrees with the Selection of Madak! In a February 26, 2009 editorial, entitled "Finding a new leader for the schools," the Lakewood Sun Post opined:
[Dr. P. Joseph Madak has] got a history with the schools here, so his learning curve would be virtually nonexistent.
